An Investigation of Qi-Related Structure of Matter

Abstract
This paper presents a comparison between general substance matter and human body in order to demonstrate the existence of Qi-related structure in matter. Two kinds of elementary ingredients corresponding to matter and Qi are emphasized and their interrelations are discussed physically in relating to Taiji and Bagua or Yin-Yang trigram. In particular, we show how the Yin-Yang trigram can account for both the essential features of Jingluo in human body and the fundamentals of Qi-related structure in matter. Additionally, in order to probe into the assumed Qi-related structure in matter, a method based on measurement of electric conductivity of water is proposed to test Qi and its circulation around matter. It is demonstrated that the method is powerful in recording the nature of variation of Qi and in determining Qi-related functions of massed matter.
