Abstract
In the paper,"Reducible Brain and unreducible Mind" by Sumio Baba, he insisted as follows. Let a cut section of a human brain be connected with a device that can regenerate the same information as was once transmitted to the corresponding part of an original whole brain. Then the total system composed of several independent units each of which is made of a brain section-device should be able to restore whole brain functions. The same result will also be obtained even if each unit is independently located in interstellar distances.
He also declared that the restoration of the functlons of the whole brain indicates existence of the interaction among the independent units, therefore the interaction must be a proof of existence of a soul and it is the soul that can interface the brain sections into the unified whole brain beyond space.
ln a thought experiment, the author has examined his system model from the point of view of brain science. His system model could have no response to questions asked by another experimenter. Because of the lack of a whole neural network of a normal brain, his model failed to express its self consciousness to the question if the model had it. His model can only response to the previously programmed signals. Thus his insistence is still supposed to be a hypothesis to the author, and existence of souls has not been proven yet,
Key words : existence of soul, thought experiment, brain science, whole neural net work, self consciousness, brain section-device
